JACOBY--Gordon A., Ph.D., born November 8, 1934 in NYC, died at home in Princeton, NJ on April 7, 2021. Survived by Elaine, wife of 57 years, and children Rebecca and David. Professor of Theatre, speech and dialect, he directed plays and coached actors for theater and film for six decades. Improv specialist who reduced both adults and children to hysterical laughter, foodie, farmer, flaneur extraordinaire, traveler, mentor, and devoted husband and father. A man of the street and of the earth, he delighted and inspired all. Famous for original catchphrases, yet his most oft-repeated words were "I love you.

"Gordon Jacoby, Ph.D. was a legendary instructor of speech, diction, and dialects. With an M.A. in Speech Science and a Ph.D. in Theatre, Dr. Jacoby was THE teacher serious actors (especially Meisner trained actors) sought out during the late 80's and 90's. Actors he has worked with include: Nicolas Cage, Joan Plowright, Danny Glover, Anjelica Huston, Bob Hoskins, and Olympia Dukakis. Studio films include: "Avalon", "Enemies: A Love Story", and "The Cotton Club." He has worked with many other major stars and on many other major Studio films.
