Join us for a Meisner Scene Study Class and Showcase with Casey McClellan.
Meisner Scene Study – learning to listen and respond on a moment to moment basis working from your instincts and learning how to apply it to a scene.
Dates: February 11th to May 10th
Time: Saturdays 12:00pm – 3:00pm for 3 months
In this class students will gain the most valuable and fundamental aspect of acting: listening and responding and learning to behave truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Through a series of exercises created and devised by the late great Sanford Meisner, students will quickly learn to become more uninhibited in their acting, learning how to enliven their acting skills so that they are free to take risks, make bold choices, and to have fun while doing it.
The class will be broken down as follows:
Month 1: Learning to listen and respond through Meisner’s repetition exercises, vocal and physical conditioning, scene selection
Month 2: Scene/Monologue work incorporating Meisner Exercises
Month 3: Showcase* with invited audience in our 45 seat performance studio
*Participation in Showcase is contingent upon the approval of the instructor

What the Critics Have To Say:
“What must be stated is that McClellan, who sings and acts the whole of the 90 minutes, is a pro. He carries this show with a tremendous amount of ease, innocence, and humor.” – nytheatre.com, Dan Kitrosser
“The show deservedly belongs to McClellan, who brings a sense of boyish innocence to the role that balances out his habit of discovering new rock bottoms to hit.” – Backstage, Mark Piekert
“McClellan steals every scene that he appears in. One can’t help but smile, wondering who he’ll transform into next, and he does so with aplomb.” – Talkin’ Broadway, Cindy Pierre
“Casey McClellan practically redefines the term “scene stealer” with his shape-shifting performance as a German-accented cannibal, a fortune teller named Madame Nhu and a lounge-singing casino owner, among others.” – Washington Square News, Linnea Bloomquist
“Casey McClellan rendered a flawless portrayal of Felix. McClellan’s acting was as smooth as the swinging doors he passed through for his numerous kitchen chores. From sweet to pleasant to neurotic to balsamic to censorious to restorative, McClellan’s expressions vacillated on a roller-coaster, always achieving perfection.” – The Cape Cod Chronicle, Joan Tacke Aucoin
